Spring skiing and fun

Menthon St Bernard on Lake Annecy was the perfect spot to have our group of American, Canadian and French friends gather for a weekend of winter sports, food and wine.

It is always a challenge to find a place that everyone will enjoy. We had a group of 9 adults, with varying levels of athletic desires. Menthon Saint Bernard is perfectly situated to allow everyone in our group to get the relaxing weekend get away that they came for, Skiing, snowshoeing, wining and dining. Half of our group took to the slopes every day and the other have took advantage of the more laid back activities in Annecy, Menthon and along the lake.

Terrific public transportation allowed us to split up and go our separate ways during the day. Coming back together at night was a treat with a local wine sommelier Bruno Bozzer of La Java des Flacons, offerig us 6 different wines and food pairings with expert reviews of each.

There are other surprises in this area for the hard core foodie. Marc Veyrat Resturant and hotel sits at the foot of the Col de la Croix Fry, Manigod. In July of 2019 the chef became embroiled in a controversy over the lose of a star in the exclusive Michelin guide to superior restaurants. He has decided to reject all of the prestigious stars and allow his guests to make up their own minds. If you are fluent in French, you can read more about this public feud here. In any case there is never a dull moment in the French Alps.

Lake Annecy Villa allowed us to spend time together and still have the flexibility to enjoy other aspects of this diverse area of France.
